On May 18, Braga hosted the first conference and presented the national study on the impacts and opportunities of the new global technological wave, developed by the Platform for Sustainable Growth (PCS): "Game Changers: Surfing the wave of technology disruption”.
An important process of technological disruption - internet of things, 3D printing, energy storage, automation, robotics, genomics, nanotechnology - is underway and will transform the economy, markets and work at an unprecedented stride in world history in what has already been agreed to designate as the 4th industrial revolution.
This study, developed by PCS, already delineates the first diagnosis on the subject, focusing on the expected impacts and opportunities, both globally and in Portugal, generated by the huge wave of innovation that crosses diverse scientific and technological domains, and affects the diverse sectors of society.
Portugal can and must grasp this revolution, anticipating new trends and leading the opportunities they are already creating.
With this work, PCS has launched a set of recommendations for public policies and business options, geared for the national reality, responding to the needs of the markets and professions of the future, empowering new skills and new clusters of growth.
The presentation conference of this study brought together a group of national and international experts who ensured a wide range of readings on technological phenomena. The opening session was chaired by Jorge Moreira da Silva, President of the Platform for Sustainable Growth and the presentation of the study was conducted by the PCS Invited Researcher, Professor António Grilo.
