Dst’s construction company completed the consolidation of the Fontaínhas Cliff, in Porto, a work project with a turnover of almost one million euros.
The construction company explained that the works focused on stabilizing two sections of the cliff, known as Section 3.2 and Section 5.1, located on the right bank of the Douro River, in the city of Porto, between Luiz I and Maria Pia Bridges, removing rock blocks with high falling risk, repairing stone walls, placing wire mesh with anchoring, cleaning, clearance, and terracing.
The project also included the landscape recovery of the area, and the creation of a pedestrian path for the many tourists who visit that city area. The drainage of the rock blocks and the clearance was carried out by a climbing team, coordinated by dst, sa.
José Teixeira, CEO of the dst group stresses the importance of the geotechnical and stabilization works for the company’s portfolio, not only because of its geographical location, but also because it will become one of Porto’s new tourist spot. "It was a bold endeavor for which we were very well-prepared, with the know-how and experience we obtained from previous work projects, such as the Minho and Beira Alta lines", concluded José Teixeira.
