bysteel will build the superstructure of "one of the largest" and "most sensitive dark matter detector" ever developed, which is expected to go into operation next year.
The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) has awarded bysteel the manufacture of the metallic structure for a dark matter detector, which will be installed at a depth of 1,400 meters at the National Laboratory of Gran Sasso, in Italy.
This contract, referring to part of CERN's work in the construction of Darkside-20k, includes the manufacture of the superstructure for a cube-shaped reservoir, 12 meters high and will have a capacity for 730 tons of liquid argon. This will be one of the largest dark matter detectors in the world.
“As CERN is one of the largest and most respected research centers in the world, naturally the work carried out here will make bysteel even more capable of manufacturing the most rigorous steel superstructures” as stated by our administrator, Rodrigo Araújo, who was in the conversation with Jornal Construir about the recent project for CERN.
